Squire 60s CV Strat in the mail !
#31
Yeah I am with you on that one , I have had a couple work out that way so far but after I finish it will be fine. Just the matter of filling space in my room until I make some money. So much love for the CV series online and in the forums but as usual it is a hit or miss experience.

Anyone ever buy a Mighty Mite neck ? Can get one for $145 ebony board and jumbo frets at MF. Sure is a lot less then the graphite at $369 , once it gets SS frets will be pretty decent I am sure. Oil based finish whatever that means could be any number of things? Can flatten out the fretboard when my guy puts frets in it too from 9.5' to 17' or so. Any other thoughts besides putting a ebony board on the current neck myself ?Thinking I can get away with a 22 fret neck instead of the 21 frets that are on it now too ?

I have never had one myself, but my tech claims their quality is hit or miss. Have you looked at Warmoth or USA Custom Guitars? I have a USACG neck. I was pretty picky, and it was around $350 after shipping. Fantastic neck! I even got them to do a custom compound radius of 12"-14". Try to get that from!

If you don't mind spending a tiny bit extra look at warmoth's showcase. They often have basic necks without fancy grain patterns, often with a 10-16" compound radius, for about $157 before tax

Random update I just lowered the tuning a 1/2 step and it feels a little better just not fast and fluid like a Strat should feel. Put a second coat of tung oil on the neck just for shits and giggles because I was bored and it could be a little slicker and smoother. Not getting a fret job on a neck I am changing but that would probably fix all my problems with the guitar because Kenny always works magic on everything I have ever taken to him. Shame he actually charges for his work isn't it ?

Cranked on the truss rod a few times and raised the string tree up about a 16th of an inch. Still tuned a half step down it plays better then it did but I haven't tried to lower the action again. Devon you need to come over and play this thing so I can find out it isn't all in my head.

Not like it is very far 40 min drive or so at most. You should go to the graphtech site and get the free sample of the preplay hand conditioner , that and washing your hands and wiping down your strings meticulously might help you quite a lot with your hand funk issues. Now that I wash my hands and wipe down my strings last nearly forever. Random bit of thinking ,just trying to be helpful. And yes someone that isn't me giving an opinion on that CV piece of crap I am going to transform would be nice. Would like to get The Living Dead over here too so I could see what it is like to have a serious player rip on some of this nice stuff I have.

I'm assuming that the squire is rad as hell. You do nice work on your guitars.

I promise to thoroughly wash and dry my hands before trying any of your geets.

In fact, I may just hose my hands off with brake cleaner to make sure they're super oil-less and dry.

I don't think Joe's gonna show up. I barked up that tree for quite some time and I don't know if it's because I come off as such a dickhead or if he's just busy, but we've never gotten together. I gave up.
