NFL Talk - 2008
EaglesSuck Wrote:not surprised they are still "mathematically" in it. Hooch, do you think McNabb is gone next year, or Reid, or both or neither?

I'm not sure 10 wins will do it in the NFC this year. There are too many of the NFC south teams in the mix.

It seems like McNabb is being set up as the fall guy, which he is making it easy for them to do. I highly doubt he returns next season. I think Reid lost the team though, so nothing good can come of that, but they owe him too much money to part ways with him at this point. In my opinion... its time to "blow it up" and start over, coaches and players. To hell with how much money is owed whom.

He also discussed the possibilty of McNabb playing for the Vikings next season, pretty much saying that McNabb is gone after this year.

Sal Pal has been beating the "McNabb is done in Philly" for 3 years now. He's been wrong twice now, but I'm sure he'll say "I told you so" once it finally does happen.

I think Reid will be back, but don't agree with that.

McNabb will easily find another job somewhere, its whether the Eagles get anything for him is the question.

I find it hard to believe that they are going to start McNabb thursday night & most likely the rest of the year and then release him and have this Kolb guy be a big question mark next year. If they are truly done with McNabb then why start him Thursday? Start the young guy and see what you have. He was thrown to the wolves yesterday. Because if Kolb isn't the answer either then they might have to look elsewhere. Hooch is correct though because I think we pretty much had the same conversation about this last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they all come back. Then again they could get into the Brady "cough" Matt Cassel sweepstakes during the offseason. It would be interesting to see how good McNabb would be with a team like the Vikings that can run the football.

Reid would get job just as quick as McNabb if he is fired.

Hooch if the stars align maybe you will get the Cowher\Cassel special next year.

This is THE hot topic of conversation around here now. I tend to agree with what the team is doing now, I didn't agree with the "throwing to the wolves" yesterday. If the kid is supposed to take over starting duties now, he has the shortest week ever to do it. Bad timing. So lets say they wait until the game after... which is at the Giants. No way. Or the week after... which is a Monday Night game. Or the week after... which is against the Cowboys here in Philly. I don't think the time is right for a developing QB to come in and take over. If you want to pull McNabb, fine, go with Feeley though. I agree with pulling McNabb against the Ravens, but rolling the kid out there was bad news, especially since it was a winnable gmae when he took over.

I don't think they'd spend the dough on Cowher and I hate white QBs. :shifty:

at least he would get the reps in practice starting a game. He mostly likely got no reps last week and was thrown in trailing at Baltimore. There are better situations to get your first action. We've seen what Feeley can do and they might as well kept McNabb in there. I can understand your logic because the game was winnable and they are still mathematically in it. But if the orgainization thinks he's the future then why not?

it's similar to what happened with Romo a couple of years back. He was thrown in at half time trailing against the Giants and did not play well. But he got the reps for the following week against the Panthers. The rest is history.

Once they are officially out of it then I would play him if McNabb is truly on the way out. But that's just my opinion.
