He was an outfielder on the 1919 Chicago White Sox Team that threw the World Series.

He was one of the best players in baseball history. .356 career batting average (3rd highest)

He couldn't read or write and by all accounts really didn't know what he was getting involved in. The baseball commissioner banned him for life anyway.
