Point and shoot cameras

I like the canon powershot we have, but it is a bit slow to focus and is not great for quick, candid shots. Frankly we never use most of the features. We are not photographers, just folks who take pictures of family, etc.
What is a good, reasonably priced point and shoot camera? I prefer SD cards. Pocket sized is a plus.
Because I said so.
