At some point, I've wanted my own Frankenstein, though with a neck pickup. Not for the purpose of covering VH tunes, but to have that tone recipe as a starting point to play with on my own music and see where it leads.
The EVH striped series are about $899 new - I have considered getting the black/white one with the pickguard and routing/modifying to add a neck PU.
Right now someone over at the Trading Post is selling an MIM Charvel HH for $550 that looks pretty clean. The post talks about there being an MIJ version of the same. The current Charvels are $899 new - same price as an EVH stripe, but already with a neck pickup routed.
Yeah, I can read up on specs to compare, but it's not helping me figure out the best option. I'd much rather hear any hands on experience you have with either of these guitars, or what specific guitar and configuration you would suggest if you wanted a Frankenstein shredstick to mess around with at about that same price point.
