Vintage amp restoration and Beyond
#61
Paint it. I was talking to Crusty about this. He suggested it would be hard to get a clear to fix to it so I'm going with painting it. I figure Black is the go. Crusty suggested using car paints. he's done some great stuff himself. Have you checked out his " Matchless amp - revisited " that he posted a couple of weeks back. It's his customized build right down to the chassis.

Well the weather has been too cold for painting but finally it has changed.
I got in two coats of undercoat today.  A couple of little runs but over all it worked out well.
I'll try to get to sanding it and another coat tomorrow if the weather holds.

Bang, the weather was just right. Finished the undercoat and did three coats of Black. Had to fix a couple of small runs. There is a litle streaking in a couple of spots but that's on the inside so fuck it, it can stay. You can hardly see it except in strong light anyway.

I thought I had some screws I'd ordered for mounting the sockets etc but I can't find them any where .
Looks like I'll have to get some more.
