The signs have been there for a couple of years, and now it might actually be happening.

Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco might be crossing the line from athlete who eschews convention to full-blown whack-job caricature.
The latest evidence? Our friends at WLWT in Cincinnati advise us that Ochocinco was spotted leaving a Red Lobster in the Queen City with three small tattoos.

On his face. Just like Mike Tyson.

We’re told that, on one cheek, there’s a small cross. The other cheek displays an image of the stagte of Florida. Finally, the letters “OC” appear on his forehead.

They’re all small. But they’re on his face.

Video apparently will be posted on WLWT’s web site later tonight.
UPDATE: Ochocinco has a picture of one of his new tats as his Twitter photo. And his latest entry, added moments ago, was in response to chadparnell1: “what they say on pro football talk?” Gulp.

SECOND UPDATE: Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline.com sent along an enlarged picture of Ochocinco’s right cheek, which shows two crosses. It doesn’t look too bad. Still, it’s a tattoo on his face. For a guy who blows hot and cold on any given subject at any given time, the idea of doing something so permanent seems odd. We think they’ll be removed within five years.

Former No. 2 NFL draft pick Ryan Leaf failed to turn himself in on drug and burglary charges and is wanted by police in Texas, the San Diego Union Tribune reported Thursday.

“At one point he said he was going to turn himself in. He hasn't turned himself in yet, and if he gets picked up he's going to be arrested,” Randall County prosecutor Lacy Miller said. “If he gets picked up out of our jurisdiction, then we will extradite him or use whatever means we have to get him back. Right now he is a wanted individual.”

Ex-NFL QB Kosar files for bankruptcy[/url]

MIAMI (AP)—Former NFL and Miami Hurricanes star quarterback Bernie Kosar has filed for bankruptcy protection in Miami.

Kosar’s Chapter 11 filing Friday lists assets between $1 million and $10 million and liabilities of between $10 million and $50 million.

Kosar owes almost $1.5 million in “unsecured debt” to the Cleveland Browns, who he played for from 1985 to 1993. Kosar also owes his ex-wife Babette $3 million and $725,000 (from a personal loan) to the owner of the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. He owes a bank more than $9 million for bad real estate deals.

The 45-year-old Kosar got divorced in 2007 and last year saw his steakhouse go out of business.

Kosar, who also played for Dallas and Miami, retired from the NFL in 1996.

Sometimes it is not good to be King. Cleveland Cavaliers mega-star LeBron James learned that recently when he was embarassed by Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford. Crawford had a highlight reel slam dunk on the Akron native at the LeBron James Skills Academy sponsored by Nike and held right here in Cleveland.

If you are saying to yourself, "Why haven't I seen that yet?" there is a reason. Apparently the King and his court (that being Nike) confiscated the video tapes from the people who were taping the session. Nike officials explained:

"Nike has been operating basketball camps for the benefit of young athletes for decades and has longstanding policies in place regarding what events are open and closed to media coverage. Unfortunately, for the first time in four years, two journalists did not respect our "no videotaping" policy at an after hours pick-up game Monday evening following the LeBron James Skills Academy."

It appears that Nike only likes to promote dunks when LeBron is doing the posterizing.


And, this excerpt from an espn article adds more about the no taping policy:

They want us to believe this isn't about James' wounded pride, even though Ryan Miller -- one of the videographers who filmed the dunk -- told several media outlets he was informed earlier in the day by public-relations staffers that he could videotape the game. He also said the game was within the scheduled hours of the camp. Plus, the event's media policies don't mention anything about videotaping.

LT was unceremoniously dumped as a celebrity spokesman for Nutrisystem yesterday over charges he raped a 16-year-old Bronx runaway delivered to him by a pimp. "We are shocked and saddened by these very serious allegations," the diet company said in a statement. "Based on the severity of these allegations, Nutrisystem has made the decision to sever our relationship with Mr. Taylor effective immediately."
