It's all 70's stuff if you haven't realized.
I actuall sat in the control room while some over dubs and mixes were done for this. The producer was a mate of mine.
[ R.I.P. Jim Keays - recently and Ian Miller - a few years back ]

So I listened to a few mins of that first Captain Beyond song you posted.

and I was interested in that sound. So I tracked down and dl'd the whole album. HOLY SHIT, IT'S FUCKIN AMAZEBALLS.

I need more music in that style with the deep purpley, allman brothersy, classic rock on steroids kinda thing. For serious. NEED MORE.

Have you checked out the personell.
Rod Evans ,singer on the first album was X deep Purple.
The second album " Sufficiently Breathless " is in a similar vein.

The third album " Dawn Explosion "varies in some ways but retains the essential Beyond sound which was largely from the guitarist " Rhino ".

Controversial lyrics here.

Yeah, I learned about the Rod Evans thing when I looked them up. cool stuff. Also interesting is how I pretty much can't stand Iron Butterfly, but considering that their guitarist and bassist are in Captain Beyond and I like that a lot... well that's throwing me for a loop, and I'm not gonna try to understand why.

anyway, gonna check out those other two albums when i can.

Cheers bro!

Funny. I didn't know much about them for years and like youself I had no time for iron Flutterbye so I was shaken when I found out about where Rhino and the bass player came from. It has never tempted me to revisit ANY iron Flutterbye. There's heaps of Beyond on Yootoob and a lot of it live. Unfortunately like a lot of live stuff the sound quality lacks, to sux.
