Got a set of Blackouts on the way, since Jolly's been singing their praises. I should get them on Monday and hopefully have time to install them in my Les Paul on Tuesday. First impressions shortly thereafter.
I've never even played actives before.

I have a set of the earlier Livewire singles and they are much more lively sounding than EMG's. They are amazing sounding strat pickups and far better sounding than most stacked pickups which can sound dark and stiff. IIRC Frank Falbo said that they mix a normal and inverted signal in the preamp which accomplishes the noise cancellation? They sound and respond like a real single coil, but without the noise.

The Steinberger had EMGs in it and was a fantastic sounding guitar. Of course they were made at the start of the company in the early 80s too. Nothing at all like the Zak set or any of the others I have tried out. Clear with great definition took distortion really well , had amazing clarity. I was so disappointed when I played the Futura I bought with the Zak set in it.

I've always wanted a Steinberger.
Because I said so.

Got the guitar gutted, just waiting for delivery. Should be here in a couple of hours at most.
This might be the most useless post I've ever written.

I got a set of them delivered to me in a Jackson - those MF'ers were hot. Ripped them out that night for a Jazz and a PAF Pro.
The Jackson (DK2M) wasn't for me. I was seriously impressed with it though.

Well, got them tonight with two short-shaft pots instead of four long to go in a Les Paul. Totally useless. So now I have to get the electronics, which won't come until Friday at the earliest, because I'm too cheap to pay for quicker shipping. Oops, I guess I'll just have to play my PRS until that time. I'd play unplugged, but I'm not a pussy.
I guess I'll get the rest of it soldered up, but that won't be much without pots. Basically all I can do is wire in the new output jack.
