I'd love to have the opportunity to spend some quality time with a Marshall head on full tilt.

That time might be coming soon... Attenuator technology is advancing. I'll snag a Suhr attenuator/ACE unit - I go for that brand because everything is as promised, no hype.

I remember running a 1987x full tilt with a hotplate on -8db - I was told I still could be heard several hundred feet away. I've got a 73 1959 in the closet - Head cab's in the basement waiting for a recover. I'm going to hit the guy who I bought the Paul from to see if he wants to make her pretty again. I probably can do the modding, but I want it done by a local tech. Thinking 6CA7's or a new set of transformers/KT66's.

When I do this, I think I'm going to have it modded (its pre-molested) to be more like a JTM45-100 - lower gain and voiced appropriately. The Jimi Strat neck tone is my ideal - The good thing is its also Clapton in the 60s.

I used to play through a monstrous rig and was heard several miles away when I opened my garage doors to get the echo off the house across the street. Bunch of 4x12s (6) a few 100 watt and 50 watt heads slaved together.Did not know what an earplug was at that point , also did not know what a good sound was either.

Listening to this right now - The very first part strikes me as having cello characteristics.
