ISLAMORADA, Fla. - Is a dog really man's best friend?
Well, a Florida man has certainly proven the opposite is true. Authorities say Greg LeNoir, a carpenter in the Florida Keys, dove into the water last week to save his dog Jake from the jaws of a shark.
LeNoir says he takes his 6-kilogram (13 lb.) rat terrier for at a swim every day at a local marina. But on Friday a 1 1/2-metre (5 ft.) shark suddenly surfaced and grabbed nearly the entire dog in its mouth.
LeNoir said he yelled, then balled up his fists and dove headfirst into the water, hitting the shark on the back until it finally let go of the dog.
Jake suffered bite wounds but was not critically injured and both man and dog made it safely back to shore.

Really? I was under the impression that it was popular in the countries that utilized it.
I remember back in grade school they said that by the time we graduated High school the US would be using the metric system. They also said that Upper Michigan would be it's own state. Looking back, my teachers were full of shit.

I'm still looking for the reason I had to learn to calculate logorithims by hand. Not one single use in 20 years.
Will it blend? That is the question.

According to WikiAnswers:
Of all countries in the world that has an officially established system of measurement, only Burma/Myanmar, Liberia and the United States do not use the International System of Units (SI). The United States use Imperial units and U.S customary units.
In January of 1970, Pierre Trudeau's Liberal government introduced "The White Paper on Metric Conversion." The paper argued that most of the world's countries were already using metric and the United States would eventually convert, so Canada should go metric. However, US businesses rejected the conversion due to the costs involved.
I do not like the metric system and use it only when forced to. My kids (who learned it in school) think I am a dinosaur. I don't think I am alone in this opinion, either. Most products are labelled both ways, cookbooks feature metric and Imperial measurements, and most car speedometers show miles as well as klicks.
