Manny Pops Positive For Performance Enhancing Drugs
#1
From ESPN.com news services

Major League Baseball is expected to announce Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, The Los Angeles Times is reporting.

Ramirez’s test result and suspension are expected to be announced Thursday, The Times said.

Triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul has been told by the Dodgers that he will be promoted later today, according to The Times.

In his first full season as a Dodger, Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs. Los Angeles has bolted to a 21-8 record — best in the majors — and a 13-0 record at home that set the modern major league record for home winning streak to start a season.

I just heard on ESPN radio that Yahoo Sports is reporting that the drug he took was a male sexual enhancer, but not Viagra.

But, there are all kinds of reports flooding in now. We'll have to wait and see what's bullshit and what isn't

does anyone else find this statement odd?

What's odd about it? ESPN cites other sources all the time, especially the on- air personalities on ESPN radio.

We're in the age of lazy journalism, especially in sports. Why dig up information yourself when you can just paraphrase another report and most a few short minutes later.

I'm smelling a pool brewing, possibly even another Zoo feature... Who will be the next one suspended?

This was a shock to me. I hadn't even heard any rumors about Manny juicing. Is a 50 game suspension the penalty for a first strike now?

Not sure but I think it is too light. If I got caught using drugs at work I would loose my job. That would be th same for the rest of you.

Yes, 50 games for first offense, 100 games for 2nd, lifetime (or until the commissioner changes his mind) for 3rd. That's almost 1/3rd of the season, compared to the 4 games (or 1/4) of the season in the NFL.
