Ben Roethlisberger Coverage
#1
You may have noticed this story. Here's a quick summary:

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged that the league will delve into the suit that alleges Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger raped a woman in 2008.

"I don't know enough of the details, but it's a civil lawsuit, it's something that we obviously will look into," Goodell told reporters, via NFL.com.

"I've been in touch with the Steelers about it."

Andrea McNulty, a former employee at a Lake Tahoe casino, has accused Roethlisberger of rape in a civil suit. There is no criminal complaint.

More importantly, ESPN is actively NOT mentioning this story. Nothing on the TV, web site, or radio stations. A reporter in Dallas has said that an order was issued from the main offices to not talk about it in any way. Very strange.
Will it blend? That is the question.

The afternoon drive sports radio guy dedicated his show to that yesterday, slamming ESPN for not doing their job.

payoff, or did ESPN not want to upset one of the biggest sports fanbases? If anyone on a Philly team did that they would have created another channel for 24-hour coverage. Instead of commercials they would roll out their tired "throwing snowballs at Santa" rap every 10 minutes.

... of course, that same afternoon drive guy is getting beat in the ratings for the first time in years... by ESPN radio.

I'm waiting for Kobe to go off. They sure didn't let his story pass.
Will it blend? That is the question.

I doubt Kobe wants to wake up that monster. Tyson might

This is starting to get some airplay, at least on ESPN2. They talked about it a lot on The Mike and Mike Show this morning, and it was the lead story on the crawl at the bottom of the screen.

But, isn't the talk about how there aren't criminal charges and that Ben is fighting the civil suit? Seems like with others, once an accusation is made, they media coverage goes full speed.
Will it blend? That is the question.
