It finally got warmer out, 21 degrees...then the snow started again. Four inches so far today, another three to five overnight and then possible six more tomorrow....fuck. \

We are looking at a quick thaw with torrential downpours and 40 degrees temptress. Which means all of this snow that is piled up will melt and we will get flooded out (not me personally) of course that loosens up the ground and we can expect more trees to fall and rip down power lines.

Up where I ilve, we have been having a real cold snap with temperatures as low as -40C. It was a balmy -30C on Sunday when we headed south to spend Christmas with our kids. Road conditions were appalling. We nearly died twice on the trip down, once when an oncoming vehicle lost control and missed us by inches, and once when a sanding truck which we were passing decided to turn left without signalling. We also had to wait for over an hour while the police cleared a traffic fatality off the highway.
We arrived on sunny Vancouver Island to find several feet of snow and -4C temperatures. It almost never snows in southern BC. They don't have the snow removal equipment to handle it, and nobody has snow tires. On the bright side, at least we had a white Christmas!

It's already 50 degrees here and foggy as Hell. Close to four feet of snow melting, I wouldn't have shoveled if I knew it'd melt so soon.  It's going to snap back to Winter overnight tonight, into the 20s to ice everything back up. |
