Quote:Man turns to police after ‘taking wrong drug’, ends up behind bars ;The man was taken into custody to face traffic and weapons charges.
A MAN who police allege unwittingly took “speed” when he meant to take heroin went to a police station when he became worried about the effect it was having on him.
Detective Inspector Geoff Sheldon said the man went to police for help after having an unexpected reaction to the drug.
“He pulled up in the back carpark in the middle of the night at Acacia Ridge,” he said.
“He came in thinking he’d had heroin but he had had ‘speed’. Apparently one has a markedly different experience from the other.”
An ambulance was called for the 39-year-old, who was allegedly heavily affected by the drug, before he was treated and given the all-clear.
That’s when police stepped in to point out he’d allegedly driven to the police station under the influence of drugs and without a driver’s licence.
They also allegedly found a large knife in his car and discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest and return to prison for breaching parole.
