LOS ANGELES — A federal judge in California has issued an arrest warrant for "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis because he failed to appear at a hearing in his tax evasion case.

U.S. attorney's office spokesman Thom Mrozek said U.S. District Judge S. James Otero issued the warrant Monday in Los Angeles.

Francis, whose company sells videos featuring scantily clad women, did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment. The hearing was to address his request to hire a new attorney.

Francis is accused of claiming more than $20 million in bogus business expenses on his corporate tax returns, including $3.8 million for a home in Mexico and $10.4 million in phony consulting services.

He has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled for March.

A 24-year-old Salt Lake City man faces charges in 3rd District Court in connection with firing a gun at a locked refrigerator case to steal beer over the weekend.

Police say the man walked into a 7-Eleven at 1353 W. Indiana Avenue (830 South) just before 6 a.m. on Sunday and walked back to the cooler.

When the suspect noticed the cooler was locked he pointed a handgun at the glass front and fired two shots, according to charging documents. He took a 30-pack of Busch beer and left the store running, court documents state.
Police located the suspect driving a black SUV near Glendale Plaza. They made a traffic stop, found the gun and the beer in the car and arrested the man, charging documents state.

The man had spilled beer on his clothing because he shot holes into the beer packaging, which caused several leaks, according to court documents.

The man was charged Tuesday with second-degree felony theft, third-degree felony discharge of a firearm, class A misdemeanor criminal mischief, carrying a concealed dangerous weapon, a class A misdemeanor; and interference with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor.

He is being held in the Salt Lake County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Lot of dumb stuff in this story if he bashed the glass with the butt of the gun instead of firing it probally would have shaved 5 - 10 years of of his sentence.

FEBRUARY 5--Meet George Bartusek. The Florida man, 51, was arrested yesterday after he was spotted fondling and making out with a pair of blow-up dolls in a supermarket parking lot. Shoppers called cops when they spotted Bartusek getting busy in the front seat of his 1998 Lincoln Town Car, which was parked directly in front of a Publix store. According to a Cape Coral Police Department report, witnesses told cops that Bartusek was "performing activity to two different blow up dolls in his vehicle that was consistent with masturbation and other simulated sexual activity." He was also spotted "aggressively" kissing the dolls. When confronted by police, Bartusek said that he was headed to Target to "get some clothes for his dolls." Bartusek, charged with breach of peace, was wearing shorts with a three-inch opening "in the crotch area." Of course, Bartusek "had no underwear on under the shorts," noted police. Bartusek is pictured below in a Lee County Sheriff's Office mug shot. One of the blow-up dolls involved in the public clinch is pictured at above.
