That's what they were going for, but it wasn't suspenseful or scary at all. There was way too much backstory and planning.
I did just watch a similar "found footage" movie which was much better then Area 51:
Dyatlov Pass Incident (AKA as Devil's Pass), based on a true event from 1959. I saw a documentary about it a few years ago, so the movie interested me. It was pretty good, there were some parts that freaked me out a bit.

I'm not sure if it's still there, but I found the whole movie on YouTube. If you go that route, be warned that there are some versions where the voices are sped up and everyone sounds like they've inhaled helium. You'll know it's wrong as soon as the lead female starts talking.
I can't find the one I watched, it had the correct voices.

That is what happens when Jupetarians breathe our thin atmosphere. They have to be put into pressure chambers at Area 51 just so we can hear their voices.

Noah - Interesting take on the whole ark thing. The special effects were quite good. Is it wrong that most of my knowledge of religion comes from movies?

The whole family is really enjoying the new Dr. Who. The sci-fi writing has gotten a wee bit more solid since the days of my misspent youth, and the companions are no less hot today than they ever were.

The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years - I hadn't seen it since the early 1990s so it was nice to revisit it and laugh at the ridiculousness of the late 1980s Sunset Strip metal scene. The bands were so untalented and everyone was convinced they were going to be superstars.
When I'm referring to bands, I'm not talking about the legitimate bands/people they interviewed (Lemmy, Ozzy, Megadeth...etc), I'm talking about the turds like Odin, London and all the other forgettable ones.

I worked my way through the five Resident Evil Movies over the last week or so. They were OK, nothing spectacular that left me wanting to really ever rewatch them. They were pretty redundant/repetitive at times. A virus, the undead, kill, kill , kill...yawn.
Milla Jovovich made the movies more enjoyable. If she wasn't in them, I probably wouldn't have made it to the last one.
