What did you watch this weekend?

Speng Wrote:I just watched Man on Wire, a documentary about a crazy Frenchman who tightrope walked across the World Trade Center towers back in 1974.
It was very interesting up to and including his actual walk - then it all fell apart for him. He had this great crew and girlfriend, blew his load and then pissed it all away afterwards.

I was wondering how he afforded all the trips back and forth, he was just a street performer.

I also watched Anvil: The Story of Anvil. Pretty interesting documentary about a band that had brief popularity back in the heyday of 1980s hair metal. Two of the original members, now in their 50s, keep hoping for the big break. It had it's "This is Spinal Tap" moments but it was good.

How does that hold up? I haven't seen it since it was shown on HBO back in the 80s.

The story and some of the execution hold up pretty well actually. Some of the puppetry can be laughable at times though. We streamed it on Netflix if you have that option at home... to go back to the 80's.

I saw Inception for the first time this past weekend.

I thought the story itself was light, but it had to be to keep the average person from stroking out with all of the "level" changes. I enjoyed it. Went back and watched some of the early scenes over again... it helped.

Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield, it was some straight to video turd I found on The Chiller Network. They really imbellished the story, turning a crazy old dude into a hulking mass murderer who abducted people in real life.
