for me it's not so much about the look as it is half design, half woods.
I don't much care for the sonic feel of a set neck. The whole instrument tends to resonate differently than a bolt-on (which is what I prefer). And I don't really gel with mahogany all that well either. I find it too congested sounding in the mids. Maybe I just haven't played the right kind of mahogany guitar, but all the ones I have played (including the axes I've actually owned), I haven't been able to feel that "special connection" with.
I actually really like the look of LPs, but overall they're just too awkward, cumbersome and weird sounding to my ears to bother with them.

Hey Ryan, have you ever owned/played a mahogany bodied guitar with something other than humbuckers? Personally, I love the sound of P90 equipped Les Pauls. IMO it fixes everything I don't like about HB-equipped Les Pauls. The low-mid/mid congestion I don't like about LP's is greatly reduced and the mids/upper mids are much more pronounced. They growl oh so nicely.

Speaking of which, what guitars do you have Devin? The only axe I know you own is that LTD you got by mistake.

Fixed
I have 11 guitars and a 5 string bass.
The LTD (which I want WLH for), an ibanez artist (c8 and 59), lp junior (JB), a 1960 something Aria 1802t, a surfmaster (like a jazzmaster with 3 p90s), a weird danelectro strat thing with built in effects (reverb chorus delay and a disgusting fuzz), an ibby SA, an Oscar Schmidt jazz box, Gibson melody maker (easily the hottest single coil I've ever heard), and a schecter hell raiser 7.
Oh shit, I forgot about the greatest tele ever made.
Fender FSR lite ash tele with duncan alnico 2's

That's a nice stable you've got there. I can't wait until I move out. I've got a hard enough time storing the 5 guitars I have now in my tiny little room, and it will probably be up to 7 before the year is out. I really should capitalize on my recent luck and get a powerball ticket. I need my own place so badly.

I'll have to post some pics. Realistically speaking, I could have better guitars but I like weird axes. I love my gear though and that's what matters.

Absolutely. I love weird guitars too but usually I don't find them on par playability-wise with the nicer guitars I've played. I'd love to start practicing on some beaters and learn how to make guitars incredible (refretting for SS frets, how to do a fret job, how to make a nut, perfect my setup game, etc) and get a bunch of oddball guitars to trick out and make into playing machines. I'd love to get an Airline/Tiesco/Kay/other guitar and make it play as nice as my PRS.

I have not. All my mahog guitars were dual humbuggy.
On a side note, aside from my Jimmy Herring inspired strat, I'm super gassing for a dual P-90 strat/tele sans-pickguard. Can't afford. Need moneys for schools and moving and life shit. I want a new amp too. And a new 2x12. blargh. needs teh moneys or gear.
