Help Me Decide
#11
I'm partial to the McCarty too. Doublecuts are just way more my style, and though I like the idea of having the LP control setup, I'm not crazy about how the switch gets in the way during tapping and how far away the volumes are. As a matter of fact I've come to prefer master volumes by far. It just makes more sense to me. And is it just me or does the McCarty look like it's got a 1 piece top? As nice as the flame on the singlecut is, I dig the more subtle look of the McCarty.

I mean I really want to like the singlecut more, especially since it's in nicer condition and would likely fetch more money if I ever needed to sell it, but that's not what I should be looking for in a guitar. And though the singlecut MAY sound more LP-like, I imagine the difference would likely be pretty slight. I mean as far as I know the only difference between the two guitars is controls and single/double cutaways.

Yeah I'm going for the McCarty. I may have to wait a few weeks because the guy that wanted to buy my Boogie hasn't got back to me yet, but if it's still available 2.5 weeks from now (which it should be, it's been posted for like a month) it will be mine.

yeah it looks like a 1 piece top for sure. I also like the very slight quilt going on with the flames.

do you know what production year it is? if it's mid 90s or earlier it might even fetch a higher resale price than the singlecut.

Yeah I don't have that much money. I'll probably get a nice used Gibson/Martin/Taylor sometime next year, but spending a few grand on an acoustic is not something I'm interested in.

Well, I sold the Mesa cab and a pedal I wasn't using. I'm going to pick up my cab tomorrow and I think I'm going to sell GC my Music Man to get the McCarty. Ever since I got the CE24 I've had little desire to play it. The PRS might not play as nicely as the Y2D, but it plays fantastically and, more importantly, just sounds so much better than the Y2D. I think that the McCarty with a WLH set will be a fantastic win. Since the D'Avanzo won't be here for my birthday, I need a new guitar of some sort haha.
