Well i did consider this and i actually have a few varieties of bamboo here. But no i don't think it will be professional enough for my tastes

What i will use it for is to test mitre angles to find the best results before i go ahead and turn it up. I will also scan or take pictures of its textures and patterns to use on mine.

My old man did a painting with a frame turned from wood but is made to look like bamboo. So i figured i would do something similar when i make this.

Finally

Got the 20'' truss rod coming in a few weeks. Should be long enough for ultimate access and 27 frets.

Also thinking i might invest in a 7 string pickup to put on an angle to the 6 strings.

Really? Thanks.

I cant wait to begin this guitar. Not sure what wood to use for the body either. I think mahogany turns well but the last slab i got was a bit narf.

Options

Hoop pine - I got plenty of it ''free''
Ash - Hmmmmmm
Paulownia - No one was enough and never again
Basswood - its calling me

I also found this the other day

Not really sure what it is, Maybe queensland maple or something similar.
It will make a nice top for a strat type guitar.

Why be like that?

I wonder how tricky it would be to add something like this.

This is how its done. looks easy, even easier with bigger knobs. G

Interesting idea . I bet it's not as easy as it looks though. The pot mounting would be the first potential problem.
What's that plate covering one of those pots ?

I have been doing some drawings. Why not just do it like this

With that 5mm cut out in the cavity bottom you could get enough room to get the pot in and out easily. It would also make a nice little wall that you could glue the '
'pot mounting wall'' too.

Also this is my idea-

You can use this method by mounting to a fu tone style mounting plate, a humbucker baseplate, threaded inserts into the body or just wood screws.

A few of you might have seen this fu tone mounting plate. As you can see in this video it bolts in and you adjust the height by removing the pickup and adjusting the baseplate.

Now for my idea.

start with 1 pickup rout like so or threaded inserts etc.

Mount a humbucker base plate. You can buy them from stewmac or if you're like me you will have a few in the spare parts box.

Grind/file away some of the top of the height screws so they can move up and down.

Install with sprigs as normal
