An adventure in batting (cab treatments)
#11
only halfway hahaha

It can go higher and gets obviously more saturated and thick/noisy, but somehow doesn't lose definition. I kept it halfway just so it wouldn't get too noisy.

but it's just plain white polyester fiber fill sheets.

Haha i have a problem ''in my real life'' where i ask people what colour things are. Always in a situation where it doesn't matter what fucking colour it is.

I personally would have gone for a red.

they don't come in red dude haha.

It's the same kinda stuffing that goes in soft toys for kids, or the stuffing that goes in quilts. Nobody ever sees this stuff unless you destroy the thing it's supposed to go in. So the manufacturers don't bother making it in different colours lol

OI. Sounds like a gain monster.

It is. Darker sounding than my Tubemeister too. But it's a nice satisfying, thick kinda saturation. The Tubemeister at very high gain levels actually gets kinda harsh in the high end. There's this ugly sounding solid state fizz at the very high gain levels.

For medium/high gain levels it's boss though.

Only thing with the Blackstar is that the low/medium gain level happens from about 7:00 to 8:00 on the gain dial. By the time you hit 9:00, it's already into high gain territory (that's where I was for the 80s cock rock clips on the recording), and even that was a bit higher gain than you'd expect from a JCM800.

Played with a Blackstar HT60 today. A friend in town rang up and said come around. His son was there with a few guitars and his amp. He's a lefty so I took a couple of guitars . As it only has ONE input we had to take it in turns. I just plugged into his Fx and used his settings . It was curious to hear the diff. He was playing either his Gibson Hendrix V or his Lefty Jaguar loaded with di marzios. I had My Epi Les paul with a Stag Mag and a Hybrid I hacked together and my $80 Aldi strat. Interesting amp, very clean on the clean channel. The overdrive channel sounds like bees to me but that's the sound you younguns go for. I figure if I had fooled with the controls I may have gathered a greater insight into the amp but I didn't so it remains an unknown quantity. It sounded good with what I did do with it, as with the other guy, he sounded good.

Most kids don't know how to EQ amps nicely.

The higher powered HT series are not too bad at all, but the low powered ones sound way too boxy and held back or something... like R2D2 with a restraining bolt.

put that in your old man pipe and smoke it!
