I'm pretty sure my Torero weighs 9 pounds and I've never felt any sort of back strain while playing. I play standing up 90% of the time and I've played for like 5 hours before.

I'm sorry but people who get back injuries from just playing a heavy guitar need to work out their core and back muscles more. Not to mention working on posture. /rantover

Oh and Devin: I'd check out the CTM edition ESP/LTD's, the Solo-II's from Schecter, and used MIJ Edwards guitars. Lots of the people playing the John Sikes sig Edwards guitars say they are better/equal in quality to most Gibson's today. Agile is fine from what I've heard, lots of guys were saying they can have lots of set up issues when you buy them new, when I was looking at getting a nice single cut a year or two back anyways. (which I never ended up doing because I prefer 25.5" scale and above I discovered)

The PRS SE Tremonti I played the other day was a very very nice guitar for the money. If I was looking at a shorter scale guitar I'd probably pick up one of those.

Thanks, Chris. I appreciate your suggestions. I might have something lined up that would be wicked. Its just a matter of how it works out.

Thanks again, man.

All those options suck.

Do yourself a serious favor and buy yourself something made in germany. Something loaded with schaller goodness.

Like this super high spec shadow.

Just look at the quality of the frets and wood. You would never get anything that good for $500ish new.

Didn't mention from just playing guitar - Flannel is still young and strong (and by some accounts a sexy beast, but I'm not qualified to judge that. :p).

Chances are you'll have an event from something (God forbid). Life happens.

Mine was from a hard to start lawnmower. Could hardly walk for a few days. Never the same again. I work out pretty religiously...

True. I have a slight kink in my knee from working concrete one summer. Only flares up every so often.

But it only weighs 4.5 lbs.

We can't all be as gay as you are.

As far as back problems, I'm 35 and have none, and I'm a sloppy fatass. Not to say that I won't, but I'm more worried about my busted-ass feet.

Devin can tell you: I won't even play sitting down. Sitting down doesn't rock, thus, I don't do it.

Hahaha

I love when when young bucks brag about their "manliness" and strength.

Wait 30 years and get back to me when you have arthritis in your shoulders.

Or a back injury that won't heal like some of the guys.

"Proving" how strong you are only proves that you're too hard headed to consider easier ways of accomplishing the same goals.
Because I said so.

Blah, blah, blah, gay.

Seriously, though, I respect your decision to come out like that.

Seriously seriously...it's all preconceptions, in my case. I am willing to admit if I play a Tele, it had better be light. If I play a V, it can be anywhere on the spectrum. If I play a LP, it had better have some heft. If I play a Parker Fly, I'm gay.

If you play Parker fly, you probably play fusion or Jesus music.

Not that I don't dabble in either of those occasionally.
