If I'm going to be bad....
#21
I recently put a GFS Deluxe style mini in the neck of a Tele and I don't care for it. I'm thinking it's because the pickup has a brass baseplate and cheap cover. It might sound better with a nickle steel cover? I'm not sure what kind of magnets they use or if I can use it uncovered?

I've never been particularly fond of tele's, but man, when they sound good, they sound really fuckin' good.

We need to hand out ammertone so you can play my D'avant. You'll never want another Tele ever again.

B really bad. Get a B Bender. huge grin

The Neck Pickup in my Relic is really nice - it a variant of the "Twisted Tele" I think.

Think of it as a take on a Strat Neck, but a tad mellower. My other Tele type has a PAF variant in the neck.

I'd like a bridge humbucker and a tele neck pickup. I mostly play LP style guitars but I'm a tele man. The simplicity is pleasing.

I got enough experience with bridge humbuckers.

And I have a strat with a kickass bridge pup. But I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of strat bridge pups. I only really keep my SSS pick guard around to cop Deep Purple tones.

Tele bridge pup is new territory for me. A strange and possibly wonderful new world.

My lite ash FSR tele has a2p's in it. They are phenomenal singles.

this is the other thing...

I'm in two minds over swamp ash vs northern hard ash.

Tele being a tele and all, the balance point is vastly different from a strat (which is what I'm most used to). If I was getting a strat, I'd be fine with swamp ash in terms of weight. But since it's a tele, I'm thinking northern hard ash might be a better option if I want it to balance well and NOT neck dive.

At this point I don't even give two fucks about tonal differences between the two types of ash. Just weight.

Oh and I decided to say fuck it, and get a body made by Mitch over at KNE guitars who made the body for my Polaris. His prices are reasonable (read: less than warmoth) and his work is flawless.
