Music in my store
#1
I manage an auto parts store, and one of the benefits is my ipod provides the music. Currently spinning is Jeff Beck's Live at Ronnie Scott's. Also heard today was:

Nirvana Unplugged
Oz Noy's Fuzzy and Twisted Blues
Jethro Tull's Aqualung
Offspring's Americana and Ixnay on the Hombre
Les Claypool's Duo de Twang

Sweet!

I'm lucky enough to have a director with a love of music. Our day can consist of anything from Motorhead and Manson to Soundgarden and AIC.
Trust me, I'm a medical professional.

I love it when I walk into a random store and they have something off the beaten path playing.

I work at a free book exchange every other weekend. Since the "customers" aren't actually paying for anything, I feel like I can play whatever I want. I don't play any Meshuggah out of respect for people's virgin ears, but beyond death metal I play whatever I want.

My old coworkers had the shittiest taste in music though. They'd play shitty Japanese Weezer knockoffs, video game music, and Green Day.

One time one of them put on an 8 bit version of Dark Side of the Moon. I wanted to give her a KO punch so bad.

I close Friday nights, and we're not that busy, so it's a lot of Clutch, Down, The Sword, fuzzy stoner metal. The guy I close with had never heard Sleep before, so we listened to Dopesmoker all the way through. Hank 3 is another mainstay, and Black Label Society's Hangover Music.

What's really funny is, the only time customers ever mention the music is when it's like Elvis or Johnny Cash.

I was in a store today that was playing '70s and '80s Classic rock. I was enjoying it.
Because I said so.

When I managed a Cellphone store in Downtown Boston I had pretty tasty jazz playing in the store throughout the day. Mostly Bill Evans, Miles and Coltrane.
