I can't understand why this thing is so much heavier than the Mark IV I picked up a while back

birch-ply is dense and heavy.

plus speaker.

plus great big chunks of iron.

80lbs isn't terribly bad for a combo that awesome tbh.

The Mark V combo is about 20 pounds lighter. Go figure

The larger size would seem to make it a little more awkward to carry.

I think you need an EV in that thang.  ;)  Kidding, but if you can borrow a Thiele cab with an EV, you need to try it.

I had the Mesa vertical 2x12 and the bottom half was basically an EV loaded Thiele cab.

That was one hell of a cabinet.

The Mark V combo is actually 2 inches shorter and 4 inches less wide.
