Granted, easier than a hollowbody, but still more of a pain in the ass than just taking one cavity cover off and having full access to all the electronics

Here's another idea - !'m assuming a 1-5/8 inch thick body. Thicker would be more to play with. You could have a bigger hole.

**Snicker**

Simply drill a hole from the side the path you want the controls to go. I'm thinking 1-1/8' might work, maybe 1-3/16". Plug the entrance **snicker** or install a jack plate at the entry point. You'll have to make mounting washers out of a dowel to math the radius from the hole, but that should be easily done.

Yeah if anyone knows its me man. But still i like to challenge things as you know. You could say the same thing about pickguards vs rear mount cavities.

I just like the idea of a single humbucker guitar with no cavities. The slab....

Of course bro. It's one of the the things i really respect about you... Always thinking of new ideas, even if there's some not so great ones.

Takes balls to be unconventional

I have this idea sussed out for a single piece body.

1. Route out the humbucker cavity as normal

2. Use this bit to take away the inside cavity walls on both sides closest to the knob but leaving the top. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Router-Bit-Sl...SwDuJWxX4K

3. This is where it gets tricky. I Get this bit into the cavity, Because i used that bit earlier ^^ i can now get it in and have enough room to start the router. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/371436748275?...EBIDX%3AIT

If i used a mini pot i would have about 8mm distance from the edge of a strat knob to the humbucker ring.
