Win8 app to bring back the Win7 desktop

I've seen references to third party apps that will return the Win8 desktop to the Win7 appearance with the Start button.
What do you recommend? What is safe? I'm trying to help a family member.
Because I said so.

Win 8.1 added a "feature" called go straight to desktop on boot... that worked well for me until I recently upgraded to Win 10 (which acts much more like Win 7 desktop wise).
