Residents of Lima are being advised to follow the proper guidelines when disposing of their trash because vultures are on their trail.

The scavenging birds of prey are equipped with GPS tracking devices and GoPro cameras to help environment officials crack down on illegal waste dumps surrounding the Peruvian capital.

[Vultures] play a very important role in nature, especially in Lima as they're helping a lot to control a large quantity of the rubbish we're dumping.

Experts said the vultures were the ideal bird to take on such a task, with no preparation was needed to lead them to waste deposits because they naturally sought organic matter and garbage in their search for food.
