Let's Design A 2x12 Cabinet.

All I had time for this morning was gluing and screwing the bracing I cut last night. Everything is still lining up just right.

It took me right up until dusk, but there is a shell now.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I did have a little boo-boo. In three different places the blade on my saw wobbled a little. So, there are a few places where my 45s have about a 1/16" play in them.

It's all good though. I have all screwed up, square, and rigid as hell. I'll just have to go back and inject glue into the 3 or 4 small gaps. Nothing but a thang.

I still have to caulk the bracing, route, and sand her up. This is nothing like what the finished product will look like. Not having a full shop and every single tool I need produces some interesting obstacles, but a little creativity goes a  long way. It may be a slower process and a little more frustrating, but you still end up with a perfectly functional, beautiful, hand made product. The destination is so worth the journey though.

It's starting to look like something now.

Will you do me a small favor and make it green?

Please?

If I can find a pleasurable green stain... I'll still have to say no. :toast:

I'm thinking something like a smoke colored stain, with a high gloss finish. I just can't match a grill cloth to that smokey color yet. Still working on that part.

Hell, I still have to build the picture frame front accent too. I'm still a good 2 weeks out on this one, easy.

Lol! You forget how much fun this shit is sometimes.

So much easier with all of the right tools but a good hack job is always fun when it works out perfectly! I know where every piece of equipment you need is right now , whereverthehell my brother unloaded his stuff before going to the Keys to fish. Having a fully stocked cabinet shop made life so much better for me when I was doing the custom stuff. Oh I miss the 4' wide planer and the giant belt sander. A 12 ' wide table saw is handy too. That shop was about 200 yards from where I live but the guy that ran it was an idiot. Pretty much sold more then a $100k worth of tools for nothing to the building owner so he didn't have to pay to move the stuff and store it. I'm telling you to use some small dowels and cut plugs for those screw holes , cheap easy fix.

It would be great if we could feed Karp beer and wood and he could pump out an endless stream of cabs for us.
