Through a strange bit of circumstances, I played acoustic in church today. I haven’t played my acoustic in a few months. About 30 minutes into rehearsal while changing the setup, I turned to the guitar stand and noticed a line on the top of the guitar.
It’s a straight crack.
I think it spread some during the services. I don’t even know if we have anyone locally who does acoustic repairs. I put the word out, but I’m waiting for recommendations.

Last year a group of townspeople here in Rainbow got together and obtained a govt. grant for furthering community Arts and activities. They also did some fund raising and bought the now empty Primary School. [ It was moved to adjoin the High School ] They renamed the old school The Oasis and this became the new Community Centre and Arts Hub. As part of setting up the centre a PA system was recently purchased.
About a month or so ago , I was asked to unpack and set it up.

The system consists of an XR-18 Mixer and two sets of powered speakers and four Microphones.
It's also controlled by an ipad or laptop wirelessly or directly connected. The people who ordered the system didn't realize it needed such to control it, until I pointed it out. I used my laptop to set it up and in the meantime an ipad pro was obtained, which has been used to control it from then on.
The speakers are ; One pair for front of house and a smaller pair for fold back.
The microphones are Sure SM58's X 3 and one SM57.
The Mixer has a Main Out which sends a line signal to the powered monitors.
You can use the Aux/line outs to send custom mixes to the fold back speakers.

Last Thursday night there was a small show there featuring two local brothers that perform Country Music under the name The Lazy Farmers Sons, and an Aussie Artist Neil Murray. Neil is known for penning the song " My Island Home " that was recorded and made famous by the Warumpi Band and later reworked by Christine Anu.

I was asked to do the mixing for the night which I did. I also set up a Laptop that belongs to the Oasis to record the LFS's. I used Reaper for this, which worked well. Fairly easy to set up and it made a fairly good recording. It's all done via a USB connection. I managed to Fuck up and recorded over the first three or four songs but I did get the rest of the set. The LFS's perform their own material as does Neil Murray. Neil Performed for around an Hour and half finishing with a rendition of my Island Home.

The only other fuck up was when the LFS's finished and one of them unplugged a guitar from the DI box. He hit a +/- pad that had been down [ -20 Db ]. Neil plugged in and the moment I un-muted it there was screeching feedback that I immediately muted. It did give the audience a momentary fright though. I quickly figured what had happened and switched the pad back and everything was alright.

Using the ipad is different and not quite as user friendly as a hands on real desk but it's passable and in some ways has definite advantages. Overall the XR-18 is a good performer and Audio tool.

Here's afew pics I took. [ Not the greatest ].

This arrived today . It's a reissue Framus Hollywood. My first Electric guitar was one of these.
I sold it after owning it for a couple of years. I bought the body back a couple of years later. It got thrown together with the neck from the guitar that I then had, a couple of pickups and a few other bits that I took to a Luthier and had him put it together for me. This included getting a new scratch plate cut. The pups were a Fender strat in the neck position and a Gibson single coil in the bridge. It was my only electric guitar for about the next thirty years. It got some Dimarzio Super Distortions in the early 80's. Back in the early 2000's I got a different neck for it but I never gelled with it. I got a Warmoth neck for it last year and fitted it. It's great. I refitted the Gibson single coil to it recently and the Super Distortion now has Neodymium pole magnets.

Framus reissued these about five years ago or so. I couldn't afford one then so I passed on getting one.
I was chatting with Crusty who was telling me about a reissue Hofner Galaxy he'd bought recently. It was a reissue of his first Electric. It resurfaced the idea of getting aHollywood again. I went off looking for one online. I could only find one Aus and $1000 minus shipping and not the colour I was looking for. I found one on an Italian site. It stated contact the seller for shipping details. I sent them a message and got a reply requesting my address so they could quote me. I sent that and waited . Five days later I sent another message asking what was happening and resent my address. I got a reply back a while later saying 'Good , talk to you later " .
After waiting another five days I gave up and went looking for another one. This time I found one in Switzerland. It was AU $100+ cheaper than the Italy based one. I sent them a query as to whether they shipped internationally as they didn't state as much on the netsite. I got a reply with an Invoice quote and a request for my address. After supplying that, a revised quote was sent including shipping. They also sent me a link to do a secure transaction on. AU $806 including shipping. I was sold and completed the transaction. They sent me advice it had shipped on the 15th of this month. It arrived toady the 28Th. perfectly intact.

Comparing it to the original, it's very true to it with a few minor exceptions. The main one being the Bridge. It used to have floating mounts; it now has solid fixed posts. It had unusual strap connectors which have been replaced by traditional strap buttons. The binding is twice as wide as it originally was but beyond that I can find no differences. I've yet to look at the pickups and under the scratch plate so I don't know if that area is the same. The pickups sound familiar but it was a long time ago that I used them.
The neck feels really good to me. Very close to my Epi Les Paul or the Casino. It was mildly out of tune out of the box but a quick tune up and it was playable. I lowered the action a little and it feels really good.
Any way ... voila' and a pic with what's left of my first one.

You've really got to wonder about the sticker on the neck. [ This is a brand new guitar ].

Pulled this little POS out of the closet tonight. It's one of those Gibson MM Explorers from a few years back. "Damn Mozart, always photo bombing shit..."
I've tried once to make a decent guitar out of it, but it was several years ago, and my patience and attention to detail were nothing like they are now.
I'm sure you all know what these things are, as well as the the specs. What do I make out of it?

Well - One of the things on my to do list while on vacation is to run all my amps a little while to keep caps up/make sure things are OK (i'm way overdue). I don't think any have been on since Sept 2016 when I got the old AX8. Its kept me satisfied for all that time.

I've been kidding myself. LOL

So mostly I'm playing Fender models. Twin/Deluxe/Vibrolux.

So I'm starting with my ol' 66 Vibrolux Rev. Cable straight in. Suhr with ML Classic set.

No contest.

Everything is richer sounding... The biggest thing is the bridge pickup. Lots of depth - resembling a Tele vibe going on.

The Volume and Tone need a shot of Deoxit bad, though.
