Week 1 of the 2010 TMR Zoo Double Play Contest is in the books and we have our first set of results. Unfortunately, we don’t have a winner. As we mentioned in a previous article, offensive powerhouses such as the Phillies and Dodgers started the week off hot, and then the runs dwindled down to nothing in the final days of week 1.

It was the Florida Marlins who led the majors in runs scored in our first week of the contest. Jorge Cantú had a little something to do with that by hitting 2 homers, scoring 7 runs and knocking in 11 runs all by himself. Welcome to your first statistical update on the 2010 TMRzoo Major League Baseball Double Play and Grand Slam Contests. If this is the first time you are hearing about this contest, please read on below to find out how to enter. It couldn’t be any easier or more fun.

So far this season, it is the Philadelphia Phillies who are dominating BOTH the most runs scored and least runs allowed categories. So far, in 7 games, the Phillies have scored 50 runs while only allowing 22 to score. They lead the entire major leagues in both of those categories. That comes out to scoring 7 runs a game while only letting 3 score. The NFL Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 14 of the 2009 NFL Season have been announced and are shown below. Ironically, the same thing happened in week 14 with member’s picks as did last week. A Special teamer was easier to pick than offense or defense. Nobody picked either of the offensive or defensive players of the week, but quite a few picked Eagles return man DeSean Jackson to earn the NFC’s top honor on special teams. Another week down and another rollover for the prize pack. In the second-to-last week of the 2009 MLB baseball season, nobody was able to guess both the highest scoring and least run allowing team of the 25th week.
Cubs.

The most popular offensive team this week, once again, was the New York Yankees. They earned the vote of 22.5% of all members who entered. There was a 4way tie between Diamondbacks, Phillies, Nationals and Cardinals for the most popular defensive team.. I don’ know why.

All of the votes are in and locked for the final week, so it’s time to just sit here and wait for the seconds to tick away on this 2009 season. Check back here this time next week if someone makes a last-minute shot to win the prize pack or the full set of Nickent Golf Clubs.
