The TMRzoo “Beat the House” Week 3 picks and predictions are live. In week 2, The House was beaten for the first time. The members bested the mighty house by a score of 8 correct picks to 7. Yes, that’s it. The Madden 09 simulation on the Xbox 360 came in last with only 6 correct picks. Week 2 saw a few high-scoring affairs, including a Monday Night barn-burner that everyone is still talking about. The House thinks that things will calm down a bit in week 3 and hopefully some defense will find a way into some of these contests.
On paper, it looks like a straightforward week with fifteen of the sixteen home teams being favored. It’s usually a boring week when the membership agrees with every one of the House picks, so there are a few twists thrown in there. Vote as you must.
There are a few nice games scheduled this weekend, most of them later in the day on Sunday. Last week’s Monday night combatants face a short week against unbeaten opponents. The Philadelphia Eagles host the Pittsburgh Steelers in what should amount to a great contest that will be seen nationally. The Dallas Cowboys head off to Lambeau to take on the talk-of-the-town Green Bay Packers in the Sunday night prime-time game. It should be a great test for the Packers to see what they’ve really got.
Another game of note should be the Colts hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams have looked dreadful so far and a loss could be an early blow to either team’s playoff hopes. It’s only week three but the Jaguars could put themselves in a hole they can’t get out of.
Beat the House
The rules of “Beat the House” are easy… Each week, our resident football genius will predict the outcome of all the week’s games. You, the members, agree or disagree with the “House” picks in hopes to achieve a better set of picks for the week. If the collective membership predicts more games correctly, then the House is beaten and prizes are awarded. What prizes? You’ll have to read on below.
Every member’s total picks will be tracked over the course of the season and displayed on the weekly leaderboard. At the end of the season, the member with the most correct overall picks will be named the grand prize winner. (Grand Prize sponsor is yet to be determined.)
Sound easy enough? It is. The best part is that there are no entry fees and no obligations. All you have to do is register in the TMR forums because we track your picks using that screen name… so choose it wisely.
The Prizes…
If the House is beaten, one random member will win a DVD prize pack containing at least 3-5 DVDs. The pack will include at least one current-release DVD. Be on the look out for special releases and box sets as well. Again, this is only awarded to a member IF the collective membership Beats that House for that given week.
The member with the most correct picks each week is guaranteed a new Pro Grip Football, courtesy of NERF. If more than one member leads the pack in any given week, ties will be broken by overall picks on the year. Winners can choose from 7 pre-selected NFL team footballs. Not all NFL teams are available.
Along with the transition to the new site comes an exciting twist to the weekly activities. After members have made their weekly game selections, it is time to participate in the “Visionman Players of the Week”. Members guess who they think will be named the offensive and defensive players of the week. If both of those players are named as the NFL players of the week for that specific week, the member is awarded a Widow WGMI-1NG700 Intel Gaming PC, pictured above, from Widow PC. Please, PLEASE read the official rules for this part of the contest… espeically the spelling part.
