And so it continues… The Members did it again by going with the popular picks and earning yet another weekly victory, besting the House 10.5 wins to 8. The Madden 09 Xbox 360 simulation stunk it up with 5, and has let it’s season total lead slip away to the members seemingly for good. The House now only has 2 weekly wins on the season, to the membership’s 9, with 1 tie… and only five to go. Those five can’t pass quickly enough.
The results to-date are:
* | The House | Madden Sim | Members |
Week 12: | 8-8 | 5-11 | 10.5-5.5 |
2008 Overall: | 93-82 | 99-76 | 108.5-66.5 |

The Challenge
Two House picks were not popular with the membership in week 12, and one game was a 50/50 split in votes. In all three cases, The House was incorrect with it’s selection. The two disagrees involved teams that The House has had way too much faith in this season. In fact, you could blame most of the House’s lack of success on Minnesota and Jacksonville alone.
It is no shock that the House got the Vikings-Jaguars game wrong. If you told me the House picked two out of those team’s combined 21 games correctly, I would certainly believe you. I thought these two teams would be contenders this year and go deep into the playoffs. The Vikings still have a shot, but at 4-7 the Jags are toast.
The two disagrees were Kansas City over Buffalo and Carolina over Atlanta. Kansas City Has been showing some life lately, but are still not winning games. This is the third consecutive week the House has picked the 1-10 Chiefs to win… they’ll probably win next week when they are not picked.
In the second disagree, Atlanta was favored but the House went with division-leading Carolina. Not too many people are sold on the Falcons, including the House, but if Michael Turner’s 4 TDs didn’t convince you that they are right in the thick of the hunt for a wilcard berth, possibly even the division now, then I don’t know what will.
For the third time this season, we had a tie in voting. The membership couldn’t decide on the Miami-New England game to such an extent that voting was split in half. It was a perfect opportunity for the House to gain a half game on the members. Fail.
We had two members tie with 13 wins this week, not bad these days. This week, both members entered their picks before the Thursday night game was started, qualifying them both for prizes. So with 13 correct picks in week 11, and a competition-leading 122 on the year, member kozy4u2 is our DVD prize pack winner. Kozy is no stranger to the top of the leaderboard, also finishing at the top of the weekly standings several times now.
Our other 13 game winner, with 104 correct picks on the season, Red_Rabbit receives this week’s game ball and is awarded a Nerf Pro Grip Football.
Tune back in on Thursday morning to once again agree or disagree with the House’s NFL week 13 picks and predictions.
The League
We’re down to only one perfect team now in the NFL as both the Titans and Lions both lost their contests this weekend. The Titans fall all the way down to 10-1, joining the New York Giants in that win-loss department. Detroit still has that big fat zero in their record… and you know what? It could say that way with their last 5 games being against teams who are .500 or better as they headed into this week. They start off the remainder of their season against none other than Tennessee on Thanksgiving. How cool would it have been for the Titans to be 11-0 against the 0-11 Lions on Thanksgiving? It figured Brett Favre would have his hand in ruining something so cool.
…and that’s all I have to say about that.
Fantasy Land
The AFC East quarterbacks are in the hizzouse! Every quarterback in the division, with the exception of a little-known veteran named Brett Favre, topped the fantasy point list in week 12. This is Matt Cassel’s second straight week at the top of the charts.
