If Carly Simon singing “Nobody Does It Better” doesn’t make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up you are dead. Simon’s version of the great Bond theme song oozes so much sexuality you would think she recorded it nude in bed. Just as sultry is Sheena Easton’s rendition of “For Your Eyes Only” and of course Shirly Bassey’s classic “Goldfinger” “Such a cold finger. Beckons you to enter his web of sin” is just as hot.
I think I am starting to see a trend here. A lot of the Bond films had theme songs with under lying sexual connotations! Who would have thought when Rita Coolidge was singing the theme song “All Time High” from the move Octopussy she was talking about sex. Sexual tongue and check references aside the Bond films have brought us some great music and The Best of Bond CD puts it all together in one nice package.
The who’s who of 4 decades of popular music is represented on this disk spanning from Nancy Sinatra to Garbage with a bit of A-ha and Paul MaCartney & Wings thrown in the mix. This is a great guilty pleasure you will find yourself belting out classic lyrics like “when you were young and your heart was and open book”. If you are a Bond fan on any level this is a must buy. I can’t remember when I last had so much fun listening to music.
