TVersity, the Leading Solution for Accessing Media on Game Consoles, to Surpass 2M Downloads and Launch its 1.0 Version

PS3 LogoNEW YORK, July 9 /TMRzoo.com/ — TVersity Inc., the pioneer in enabling access to personal and Internet media on game consoles and TV connected devices, is launching today its 1.0 version and announcing that its media server software has surged past two million downloads.

TVersity made its first software release on May of 2005 and has worked ever since to support additional connected devices and additional media formats. With its 1.0 release, TVersity is featuring a completely new graphical user interface, emphasizing ease of use, as well as enhanced support for new sources of content and new devices.

“Informal surveys conducted by various independent gaming communities suggest that TVersity is being used by 40%-50% of game console owners that have interest in accessing media on TV,” said Ronen Mizrahi, President and CEO of TVersity Inc. “This new software release will allow us to reach non tech-savvy audiences and help us further substantiate our position as the leader in delivering home and Internet media to game consoles as well as other connected devices.”

Since May 2007, PLAYSTATION(R)3 (PS3(TM)) users have been able to stream media content (photos, videos, and music) stored on Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices, including PCs, onto their PS3 system. TVersity enables the connection between PS3 system and a PC, and the 1.0 software will enhance the PS3 user’s experience with a more intuitive interface. TVersity also supports streaming media files from a PC to a PSP(R)(PlayStation(R)Portable) system through PSP’s Internet browser.

One of the new features of the software is a built in content guide. “TVersity is on the cutting edge of media aggregation software,” said Josh Krane, Senior Vice President of Interactive and New Media at G4. “G4 has always been at the forefront of the new media space. The network was one of the first to offer free video podcasts and we currently serve more than 16 million podcasts per month. G4 viewers are the perfect demographic for TVersity — they are early adopters who want their media easily accessible and totally transportable to all of their favorite devices. TVersity works extremely well with the Xbox 360(TM), PS3(TM) and PSP(R) gaming platforms, which makes it an even better fit for G4’s gamer audience.”

In addition to game consoles, DIRECTV set-top-boxes are one of the most popular TV connected devices supported by TVersity. Romulo Pontual EVP of Engineering and CTO of DIRECTV said: “We are pleased that TVersity has optimized its product around the industry accepted and open DLNA and UPNP Based protocols adopted by DIRECTV. Now our customers can use their DIRECTV box to enjoy all forms of personal and Internet media on their TVs using TVERSITY.”

TVersity is also announcing today its partnership with Ask.com. “The TVersity platform has reached the point where effective Internet media search and discovery are crucial for its success,” said Mr. Mizrahi of TVersity. “Our partnership with Ask.com will allow us to bring some of the Ask innovation in web search to our platform and through our platform to game consoles and other connected devices.”

“A pioneering company like TVersity is a great addition to Ask.com’s growing partner network,” said Andrew Moers, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Ask.com Partner Network. “The promotion of Ask.com through TVersity’s software will introduce the Ask search experience to even more consumers across the web, allowing people to stay connected to the world of search on multiple platforms to help them get the answers they seek anytime, anywhere.”

On the mobile device front, Blackberry(R) phones (OS V4.3 or higher) are the recent most addition to the lineup of devices supported by TVersity. Owners of the latest Blackberry(R) Curve(TM) and Pearl(TM) models can now watch live and on demand Internet streams on their phone and stay connected with their music, photo and video collection on the go.

TVersity’s two million downloads milestone, which comes only six months after reaching one million downloads, confirms increased consumer interest in a single solution that enables personalized access to digital media across devices.
