Resort Casino Continues to Outpace Industry Thanks to Unparalleled Gaming Experience, Entertainment Options & Accommodations
MASHANTUCKET, CT (July 15, 2009) – Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods today reported to the Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue that for the month of June slot revenue was $57.8 million. This amount represents a decrease of 9.1 percent in slot win and a decrease of 7.7 percent in total slot handle as compared to June of 2008.The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the casino’s owner, also reported a $14.5 million payment to the State of Connecticut for June 2009. This contribution increases the total dollar amount given to the State of Connecticut to more than $2.9 billion since January 1993, when slot machines were first introduced at Foxwoods.
These numbers indicate that Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods continue to significantly outpace the gaming industry, with Las Vegas reporting a decrease of 16.7 percent and major northeast competitor Atlantic City reporting a decrease of 14.5 percent as compared with June of 2008.
