ESPN2 will present live coverage of the 2009 MLS All-Star Game Wednesday, July 29, beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET from Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. The special presentation of MLS Game of the Week series will feature the MLS All-Stars versus Everton FC of the English Premier League. The match will be aired in high definition and will be available on ESPN360.com and ESPN Mobile.
Seattle Sounders’ Freddie Ljungberg, making his MLS All-Star debut, will join Chicago Fire midfielder and former Mexican National Team star Cuauhtemoc Blanco, and Los Angeles Galaxy captain Landon Donovan, as the roster of 18 top-tier MLS players faces 2009 FA Cup finalists Everton FC, which features U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard. Other international stars on Everton’s roster include Tim Cahill (Australia), Louis Saha (France), Marouane Fellaini (Belgium) and Steven Pienaar (South Africa).
JP Dellacamera and John Harkes, ESPN and ABC’s lead soccer play-by-play and analyst team for the U.S. National Team and Major League Soccer, will call the action, with sideline reporter Allen Hopkins. Rob Stone, Alexi Lalas and Julie Foudy will host the studio coverage including pre-game, halftime and post-game segments live from Rio Tinto Stadium. Coverage will also include live, in-game interviews with select coaches and/or players.
