MillerCoors: Large Brewery of the Year

millercoorsMillerCoors added 15 medals to its trophy case this weekend at the Brewers Association’s annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF). The brewer’s 2009 total was three times more than fellow large brewers Anheuser-Busch, Pabst and Samuel Adams combined. Coors Brewing Company, an operating division of MillerCoors, also was honored as Large Brewing Company of the Year, and the company’s head brewmaster, Dr. David Ryder, was named Large Brewing Company Brewer of The Year.

Since 1996, including medals previously won as Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company, MillerCoors now has won 186 awards between both the Great American Beer Festival and the bi-annual World Beer Cup, far more than any other large brewer.

“Another stellar performance at the GABF is wonderful confirmation that the MillerCoors portfolio is the best in the U.S. beer industry,” said Ryder. “From specialty lagers to pilsners to German-style Oktoberfests, we continue to brew great, high-quality beers that separate us from other major U.S. brewers.”

The Great American Beer Festival, held in Denver September 24-26, boasted more than 3,300 different beers from 495 U.S. breweries and was attended by almost 50,000 people. The awards presented at GABF are among the most coveted in the industry and are recognized around the world as symbols of brewing excellence.
