Today Is the Last Day Of Original Xbox Live

X BOX ClassicToday is a sad day for Xbox devotees who harken back to the ancient days of 2002, when Xbox Live made its debut on the original Xbox. This is the last day gamers will be able to play such classic titles as Halo 2, Crimson Skies, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Steel Battalion, and its ilk with friends in online multiplayer through the Xbox or Xbox 360 consoles.

Rather than mourn, Bungie will help Halo 2 fans celebrate by joining them in 24 hours of heavy Halo 2 gaming today.

For those of you who want to keep playing the classic titles online, there are still ways to game through a PC connection, with such software as GameSpy Tunnel and XBConnect. The PC version of Halo 2 has Achievements and has its own servers.

Let us know if you’re going to miss old-time Xbox Live. This is what it feels like when doves cry.
