COMIC CON ‘10: Real-Life Violence Breaks Out As A Stabbing Occurs

There’s some extremely disturbing news out of San Diego Comic Con, a stabbing took place in Hall H over prime placing in a queue for Universal Pictures’ panel to present two upcoming films – the science fiction adventure Paul and Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens.

Details are sketchy, but it appears that one person wearing a Harry Potter shirt was stabbed in the eye socket with a pen because they refused to move seats. It’s common practice in Hall H to stay for the next panels, despite, or indeed because, of such huge queues to get in. A stretcher was needed and blood was spilled. A suspect has been taken away in handcuffs by police and security staff to a chorus of boos from the queuing audience. Well, there’s a big delay now after all.

People queue for Hall H overnight and, during the day, they are regularly three to four hours long. Certainly tempers can be high, as can temperatures, but there have been relatively few incidents of this type to date.

USA Today has more details on the incident. Let us know what you think.
