The Maine Brewers’ Guild has updated its successful Maine Beer Trail to include the state’s newest breweries and an all new Maine Beer Trail Pass for visitors to track which breweries and pubs they’ve travelled to.
First started in the spring of 2009, the Maine Beer Trail has been noted as being ahead of the national curve and is a proven draw for visitors who want to experience the vibrant craft brewing industry found throughout the state.
Maine is widely known for its award-winning beer and the Maine Beer Trail provides an informative guide to the state’s 25 breweries and brew pubs. Brochures can be downloaded from the websites of the Maine Brewers’ Guild www.mainebrewersguild.org and the Maine Office of Tourism.
Printed brochures are available at Maine Visitor Centers from Kittery to Calais as well as participating breweries and brew pubs.
Since 1986, Maine has been at the forefront of the craft brew movement. According to the Brewers Association, Maine ranks fourth in the nation for the number of breweries per capita, with one brewery for every 42,000 residents. The Maine Beer Trail gives craft beer fans the opportunity to experience a wide variety of brewing processes, taste hand-crafted beer at its freshest, and come away with a full appreciation for the diversity of Maine-brewed beer.
