NFL Week 5: AFC and NFC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

The NFL has named it’s AFC and NFC offensive and defensive players of the week for week 5 of the 2010 football season. The players are listed below and pictured to the left. Without even looking at the entries, I can assure you that no one guessed both players correctly for week 5. In fact I bet for most people who entered, three of these names never entered your minds when picking.

The week 5 players of the week are:

NFC:
Offense: Josh Freeman – Quarterback – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Defense: LaRon Landry – Safety – Washington Redskins

AFC
Offense: Chris Johnson – Running Back – Tennessee Titans
Defense: Michael Huff – Safety – Oakland Raiders

After looking at the entries, I appear to be wrong in my opening paragraph about three of the names not being entered by anyone… ALL FOUR names were not entered by anyone, including Chris Johnson, a runner-up in last year’s MVP voting.

The most popular entries for week 5 were Randy Moss on offense and Julius Peppers on defense. I can certainly understand Peppers being popular while playing his old team and showing them up. I am more interested in the Randy Moss picks, considering he was traded after week 5 voting had begun. I wonder how many entrant picked him before the trade versus after.

No winner this week, sorry, but voting is already open so you can enter this week’s “Beat the House” and Jagermeister Player of the Week contests RIGHT NOW. For those of you unfamiliar with our contest, it is twofold. First, you agree or disagree with our “House” picks for week 6. Then you enter your guesses for two players who you think will be named by the NFL as players of the week. The two contests are entered at the same time, but run independently, so you can win one or both in any given week. Click the link above to enter and get the official rules and details. You can win a DVD prize pack and/or a Jagermeister 6-bottle shot cooler. Good Luck and enjoy week 6!
