Week 10 is just freshly over and nationally, sports commentators have already forgotten what happened on Sunday and are obsessing on the Monday Night contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins where individual and team performance records were broken.
Early Monday afternoon, it was announced that Donovan McNabb signed a 5-year, $78M contract extension with the Redskins with $40M guaranteed. That contract made Michael Vick, not Donovan McNabb, the soon-to-be richest man in the NFL based on the result of Monday night’s game. Never before have I seen the national sports media at a loss for words after a single player’s performance. The Eagles’ front office has their work cut out for them when, after 10 weeks, the national sports media is already crowning Vick the MVP.
Then again, this is a “what have you done for me lately” league and we could be talking about an entirely different player come the end of week 11.
As for the prediction for the game itself, both “The House” and the membership agreed in force that the Eagles would take the Monday night game. 86% agreed with the House pick. As for the rest of the week, there was an amazing five picks disagreed with, and for once, The House was correct for a majority of them.
Since the House wasn’t beaten, as it hasn’t been for three weeks straight now, there is nothing for the membership to win. Overall, it wasn’t a very good week of picks for anybody as the overall records show the House at .500, and the members one under that mark. The top member pick set was 11.
The totals for the week, and the season, are as follows:
|*||The House||Madden Sim||Members|
As you can see, the collective membership is only 4 ahead of the House and tied with the Madden simulation. Just like the NFL this year, this is a pretty close race that I’m sure will continue to stay close right up until the very last seconds of the season.
Be on the lookout for the week 11 picks and predictions first thing Wednesday morning.
