The first week of our 2011 MLB Double Play and Grand Slam contests are complete and we now know the correct answers to who scored the most runs and who allowed the least to score. As previously mentioned, it was the Philadelphia Phillies who were the most popular answers to BOTH questions. Well… there were involved, but not in a good way.
It was the Milwaukee Brewers who scored the most runs during the week of 4/17 through 4/23, with 43. 18 of those runs came at the hands of the Phillies, with the Brewers scoring 9 runs in a game started by Roy Halladay. Another 20 runs were scored on the Astros over a two game span. Much of the credit for the week goes to Ryan Braun who scored 9 runs himself with 3 home runs an 10 runs batted in.
We had a tied between two teams for the least runs allowed category… the Florida Marlins and Oakland Athletics, both only allowed 12 runs to score. As in similar years, we will accept either answer if matched up with the Brewers.
Only 5% of entrants picked the Brewers and even less picked the Marlins and A’s… and YES someone did match up the Brewers and A’s. That entrant was Securb, our very own beer and marketing guru. Of course, that entry came in the 11th hour of testing the entry page as I asked the staff to test it out by making some picks. Luck? Skill? Pulled out of his ass? Whatever the case, he’s allowed to take an extra pack of post-its or a bottle of liquid paper from the supply closet … but we’ll keep the Tron combo pack up for grabs.
No, he did not guess the exact scores for the week… so the Grand Slam prize still goes on.
Per the rules, we’re adding another prize to the pot. The new prize pack for winning the Double Play is now the Tron combo pack AND The Woodstock Experience box set, which includes 10 discs featuring 5 different Woodstock artists and over 40 songs! It’s all yours if you can do what only the TMR staff could do over the past year…
Entering the Double Play couldn’t be easier. Essentially, all you need to do is pick two Major League Baseball teams. Using the drop down boxes on the entry page, pick the professional team you think will score the most runs in the upcoming week, then pick the team that will give up the least amount of runs. After you’ve selected your teams, guess the actual number of runs for each category in the fields provided. Each week we will update you on the top scoring teams in the league as well as the teams that allow the least amount of runs.
To win the current prize, you must correctly identify the two teams. The scores you entered will be used to break any ties in the Double Play. See the prizing page for more details on what is up for grabs this week.
If nobody can guess the two teams correctly, then no one wins the prize and it rolls over into the following week… and combined with another prize. The longer we go without a weekly winner, the bigger the prize pack becomes.
Once you’ve entered the TMR Zoo Double Play, you are automatically entered into the Jagermeister Grand Slam. If you have correctly guessed the two teams AS WELL as the exact number of runs scored and allowed, you have hit the Jager Grand Slam and win the Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler filled with Jager swag.
Jagermeister, the brand known for pioneering the original bar party, with its signature Jagerettes, ground-breaking Tap Machine and category-changing Ice Cold Shots, is proud to introduce the newest innovation – the revolutionary new Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler.
Not only is this the first cooler/tap combination in the industry, but it also sets a milestone as the very first 6-bottle value-added-pack for spirits. The Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler utilizes the state-of-the-art Jagermeister Tap Machine technology and is the perfect addition to outdoor events, whether it be a backyard BBQ, beach party, camping trip or tailgate.
Remember, you are entering your guess for the UPCOMING week of baseball (5/1/10 – 5/7/10). The entry period for this week will close on Saturday at 11:59pm. Good Luck!
