Unless you have been living under a rock you have probably heard the hype surrounding the film Bridesmaids. Right on the box the is a quote from Tom Long from Detroit New “The Best Comedy of The Year”. The year isn’t over yet but this film has a pretty good chance of taking that crown.
The film stars SNL alumni Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph set in a well to used comic backdrop. What makes this different is the gaffs and gags in this films would be usually reserved for male actors. There are so many points in the film where you find yourself belly laughing at the women’s locker room humor.
Melissa McCarthy from TVs Mike and Molly is an absolute howl and steals every scene she is in. It is like watching Chris Farley in drag. Could Kristen Wiig be Melissa McCarthy’s David Spade? Kristen Wiig is fantastic in this role, she seems to get funnier with each role she plays. Though Maya Rudolph is the co-star in this film , the chemistry between McCarthy and Wiig is great.
Bridesmaids has an incredible ensemble cast that all have killer scenes throughout the film. Everybody is funny. This is in no way a chick flick it is nice to see 6 comedic actresses playing to the cheap seats.
Join the wildest wedding party of the year when Bridesmaids marches down the aisle to Blu-ray™, DVD and digital download on September 20, 2011, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Wiig and Rudolph are joined by an all-star comedy cast including Rose Byrne (Get Him to the Greek, “Damages”), Melissa McCarthy (“Mike and Molly,” “Samantha Who?”), Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Rules of Engagement,” “Reno 911”), Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” Somewhere), Jon Hamm (“Mad Men,” SuckerPunch), and Chris O’Dowd (“The IT Crowd,” Pirate Radio).
