Tonight the Oakland Raiders are taking on the San Diego Chargers. Both teams need a big year and a solid opening night is the first step in that journey. Quarterback Carlson Palmer needs to prove this is his team. Palmer is the most talented quarterback the Raiders have had since first round bust JaMarcus Russell started the revolving door at the position.
While the San Deigo Chargers appear more secure at the quarterback position they still have a hangover from last year at many positions. The big question is can Antonio Gates stay healthy. Wide receiver, Vincent Jackson now catching balls with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gates will have to step up as Philip River’s No. 1 target. The runnig game will suffer as Ryan Mathews is banged up therefore ex-Miami Dolphin Ronnie Brown will have to step up at the running back position. Let’s face it Ronnie Brown has never been a every down back and will probally be gassed by the second quarter.
