Sunday Night NFL Football Preview: The Detroit Lions vs. The San Francisco 49ers

Week one the San Francisco 49ers rolled into Lambeau Field and beat the Green Bay Packers in their own house, during their season opener. As we said last week, the San Francisco 49ers on paper have one of the most lethal offences in the NFL. With stud running back Frank Gore, TE Vernon Davis in addition to Micheal Crabtree, Mario Manningham, Ted Ginn Jr. and Randy Moss at the wide receiver. Alex Smith and crew proved us right.

The 49ers should get one of their biggest tests of the season against the Detroit Lions punishing defense.  That is yet to be seen. The Detroit Lions defensive line looks as solid as ever anchored by the Packer stomping Ndamukong Suh.

Where Alex Smith and company should be able to dominate is against the Lions depleted secondary. Cornerback Bill Bentley is a scratch for Sunday’s matchup and cornerback Chris Houston is doubtful as is safety Louis Delmas following left knee surgery.

NFL has the spread set at Detroit Lions: +6.5 San Francisco 49ers: -6.5 with the over and under set at 46.
