YAWN! Excuse me. I almost fell asleep before even writing this NFL Thursday Night Football preview. Lord knows how long I can stay awake when I watch this game. I am imagining the NFL thought this would be a great Thursday Night matchup when they were setting the NFL Network schedule for the season. Many people picked the Kansas City Chiefs to be a breakout team this year. Many people were wrong. With the San Diego Chargers being the perennial contender they are I am sure the NFL Network though they had a barnburner on their hands.
Nevertheless, you know what; this game might not be as bad as we think. The San Diego Chargers might come into this game without wide receiver Eddie Royal, who is listed as doubtful and receiver Robert Meachem listed as questionable. Even if Royal and Meachem play we know they will not be 100%. This may be the game that gives the Kansas City Chiefs a bit of their groove back.
I am not predicting the Kansas City Chiefs will climb out of the cellar of the AFC West and suddenly make a run for the post-season. If this team can string together a win or two maybe, just maybe they can salvage a bit of dignity.
The cool thing about this game is in San Diego Chargers the wheels seem to be coming off this team. They sit a slot behind the Denver Broncos in the division but as the Broncos are getting better, the Bolts are getting worse. The San Diego Chargers need this game just as much as the Kansas City Chiefs do. I am predicting a chippy game as the San Diego Chargers take control of this match-up early and walk away with the win. Expect to see the yellow flags flying resulting in multiple 15-yard marches up and down the field.
