NFL Week 17, 2013 Picks, Predictions and Stone Cold Locks – Against the Spread, Totals and Money Line

As we wrap up the regular season, we are reminded of one thing: The end of the season is unpredictable. The is evident in our recent slide (Most notably in Riot’s Rundown) but we remain strong. Last week we went 1-2 and lost 3 units. That brings our season total to 27-24 but up + 14.11 units. Riot’s Rundown goes 7-6 and brings that season total to 101-66. Now, here we are on the last week of the season. Several spots still to be determined. Let’s take a look!

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons +6.5: There is always a public perception this time of year that a team marching into the playoffs is going to roll over a team already eliminated, but it doesn’t always work out like that. This Falcons team is not a great team, but they are better than the team they were a few weeks ago. They have been playing very well these past few weeks and even hung tough with the 49ers on the road. They could pull the upset here, but I will buy back that extra half a point and take em. Falcons +7 -130 3 units

St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks -10.5: I have always said that sports gambling is kind of like the stock market. Buy low and sell high. Occasionally, the lines become victims of inflation. Last week, the Seahawks line was -6.5, but now we view the Seahawks as angry and fighting for a better spot in the playoffs, so we think they will play harder. That theory doesn’t always work out. Asking a team to blow out a tough team like the Rams is no easy task. I see 4 points of value added from public perception and I am going to take em. Rams +10.5 -110 4 units.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesotta Vikings -2.5: This is they type of game you want no part of. Two teams missing their best players, with nothing to play for. How do you know which team is going to show up? The line originally favored the Lions by 3, but then they lost to the Giants and lost Calvin Johnson, so it doesn’t look like they are going to have a lot going on offense. The Vikings lost AP, but they showed that they can win without him when they beat the Eagles. In a game that doesn’t mean much, I like the Vikings to get it done at home. Vikings -2.5 for 3 units.
